Perioperative fluid management: Consensus statement from the enhanced recovery partnership

Monty G Mythen, Michael Swart, Nigel Acheson, Robin Crawford, Kerri Jones, Martin Kuper, John S McGrath, Alan Horgan Perioperative Medicine 2012, 1:2 (27 June 2012)

Abstract | Full text | PDF |  Editor’s summary

This consensus statement from the English Enhanced Recovery Partnership calls for the training of all anaesthetists in the use of cardiac output measuring technologies, such as the Oesophageal Doppler. Cardiac output monitoring is rarely used in high-risk NHS patients despite inadequate intra-operative monitoring being associated with a three-fold increase in mortality.
